Hood Canal
Here is one of the first jobs I did when I started Wauna Tile & Stoneworks. It consisted of a hallway bathroom, the master bathroom and a den / music recording studio.
The hallway bathroom was almost a complete remodel with the exception of the bathtub. The flooring got torn out to the subfloor which was what the tile was set on. At the end side of the tub was a out-of-place bench, I guess that's what it was supposed to be. Reguardless, it got torn out, and when tearing it apart, I found it to be made of 1/4" particle board with the tile stuck directly to it. That had DIY written all over it. Next the tub area walls got torn out along with the shower / tub valve. A new Delta valve got installed and after the thing leaking everytime the main was turned on, a call was made to Delta who confirmed that they had an issue with cartridges, sent me a new one and that one was faulty too, so out went Delta and in went a Moen, with no problems at all. Next was to figure out what to do with the area that had the "bench". I framed in a partition wall that I brought the studs through the subfloor and attached to the floor joists with joist hangers to add structural integrity since the side and front were going to get tile weight. This would also stop any joint grout from cracking up the corner after time. The Tub surround got a 10"x26" "wave" style ceramic tile and the opposite side of the newly built wall got drywalled, smooth coated and 3 shelves installed. The floor was tiled with a black 12"x24" porcelain and a prefabed vanity with countertop and sink got installed. The trim was reattached and the hallway bathroom was done
Next came the Master. The shower was completely torn out including a pony wall seperating the shower from toilet area. The wall area around the toilet got torn out and the countertop and sinks were also removed. A new valve was roughed in and a traditional mudpan with center drain and curb was built in as a corner shower. The shower pan, curb top and a tile waterfall on the valve wall all got a black, gray and white river rock mosaic tile. and the shower walls extending into the toilet area and wrapping around to the countertop got tiled with a large format "subway" style ceramic tile. all the raw tile edges and corners were capped off with Schluter Rondec metal edge trim detail. The countertop was prepped and two 24"x48" porcelain tiles were set with waterfall edges and also finished with Schluter Rondec. Holes were drilled for vessel sinks and sinks and faucets got installed. A pocket door entry was removed and in its place a solid swing door and door knob got installed. After grouting all applicable areas a 3 piece Dreamline shower enclosure with barn door slider was installed.
Last was the den / music recording room which simply got the existing worn out hardwood replaced with a 12"x24" L.V.T. with all the trim reinstalled this job came to an end.
